Museum of Communication Bern

We made a trip to Bern this week, amongst other things we visited the Museum of Communication.

Overall it was interesting and engaging. A wide range of items on display and a lot of interactive exhibits. The staff were also plentiful and happy to help.

We didn’t known the history of the museum as we were looking around, but Wikipedia says that it originated as the corporate museum for the Swiss postal service and more recently it is governed by a foundation setup in conjunction between Swiss Post and Swisscom.

This ownership and management shows in the content on display, with plenty of exhibits about stamps, telecommunication and how post was transported around switzerland. There are, however, lots of other areas of communication covered, from language, eye contact, and media. Including a chance to record either a short video or dub over the audio of a scene from a popular movie.
